Lifehacking

On the 18th August I reverted back to my Best Practice Models for e-Learning role after a 1 year secondment to the Values Exchange project.

As I’m now planning the Models project direction and activities for the next year, It seemed like a good time to reflect on my working practices and organisation as well. I wanted to make better use of my internet bookmarks, reflect on and store my research in a more open and accessible way, ensure I was as connected to as many other e-learning practitioners as possible, gather relevant information about e-learning events, updates and publications and explore other tools for things I didn’t even know I needed!

As a result of this ‘Lifehacking’ I have, so far, exported all my bookmarks to my Delicious page and tagged them all. This gives me an online page with a very easy way to find my links, add notes and organise them. I can also RSS feed the links (or those tagged with any tag I choose) and add them to any page I like.

I have also updated my Linkedin page and connected with colleagues from my current and previous posts. Similarly, I use Twitter and Facebook to connect with both work and friends and family.

I’ve also started to use this blog!

All of these are now linked to my personal Netvibes page - this page displays my Delicious tags, activity on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter as well as RSS feeds from the Best Practice Models Community and this blog. I can now check everything from a single page, no matter where I am working.

I’m still looking and investigating other tools and options for more Lifehacking!
